I’m married with 4 children in their 20s, and a baby tortoise (who is most definitely my 5th child). In a past life, I was a clinical biochemist at Heartlands Hospital but left to be a full-time mum when childcare costs turned out to be double what I was earning! I have done lots of volunteering over the years (and still do), and have worked as an exams invigilator for 19 years, which fits nicely round the family, but less nicely round any running opportunities. I’d been dithering about joining FiF as, I’ll be honest, I just like being outdoors either running, walking or sailing. However, my lovely friend Gail has absolutely transformed her fitness & physique through FiF so when a knee injury forced me to take a break from running & sailing, I decided to bite the bullet & sign up. FiF is so much better than I thought it would be and having the option to do it live or on catch up affords maximum flexibility. When I’m working (which seems to be all the bloomin’ time at the moment – so many exams!) I do the previous day’s FiF at 6am (-ish) before heading into school for 7.30am. Even when you feel like a cast member of Night of the Living Dead as you drag yourself out of bed, 15 mins is actually achievable, and sets you up nicely for the day. Thanks, Sarah, you brighten my mornings.
